Student services and support programs

At Nerang State School, we are committed to   "Every Student Succeeding" and believe that, every student has the ability to learn, and should be able to demonstrate progress in their learning. We are committed to creating a culture of engaging learning that improves achievements for all students. We aim to provide challenging learning experiences that further develop literacy and numeracy expertise and capabilities across the curriculum. We work to cater for students' academic, and social and emotional needs by expanding opportunities for all students to reach their potential.

 

Students who require additional support or investigation, are referred to Nerang State School's internal Student Services Team (SSST).  This team is comprised of Principal, Head of Student Services, Guidance Officer, Speech Language Pathologist, Chaplain, Social Workers, Class Teachers, and Inclusion Teachers.  The referring Classroom Teacher completes a Student Services Referral Form, signed by the parent and attaches accompanying documented evidence.  All Student Service Referrals are submitted to the Student Service Team for review and recommendations of internal or external support services.  Referrals for internal support services may include, Guidance Officer, Speech Language Pathologist, Chaplain, Inclusion Teachers, Social Workers and Regional Support Teams such as Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Health Nurses.

 

External stakeholders, including parents and providers of outside services are critical contributors to student success.  At Nerang State School, we are committed to building mutually respectful, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.  Positive engagement with external stakeholders will have a positive impact on students by promoting learning and inspiring them to give their “Best Always", and help them become productive members of the community.​​
